Will the dream continue? That's perhaps the biggest question horse racing fans hope to have answered this weekend. Like I'll Have Another's failed Triple Crown bid, there's another Cinderella candidate waiting to drive for that feat.
On Saturday at 4: 30 p.m., Canadian-born Paul Reddam's He's Had Enough races in the Grade 1 $750,000 Cash Call Futurity at Hollywood Park in California.
He's Had Enough will be ridden by former Hastings jockey and local horse racing hero Mario Gutierrez.
In the eyes of many experts, this is a major stop along the Kentucky Derby trail. Since its inception in 1981, six horses that have raced in the Cash Call have gone on to win the Derby, with 15 Cash Call winners capturing a Triple Crown race.
He's Had Enough narrowly missed winning the $2-million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Stakes in November. That performance, against several top younger horses in the world, should have given them plenty of optimism. Enough hope that Reddam invited more 500 of his employees to Cash Call - ironically, a race he has sponsored since its inaugural run. "He's Had Enough is looking great." said Hollywood Park's Bob Mieszerski.
