EXECUTIVEPRIVILEGE (Bob Baffert/Mike Smith), beaten a length as favourite at an eminently forgettable Breeders' Cup for her trainer, bids to end 2012 on a high with her third Grade 1 victory in the Hollywood Starlet.
The major skirmishes of the season may be over but there's still the not insignificant matter of divisional awards to be sorted out, and Executiveprivilege will put heavy pressure on her Juvenile Fillies' conqueror Beholder, absent from Saturday's $500,000 event.
Executiveprivilege was looking to complete a six-timer at the Breeders' Cup after victories including a pair of Grade 1s, the Del Mar Debutante and Chandelier Stakes (formerly Oak Leaf).
Baffert appears to be leaving no stone unturned as he bids for the Grade 1 treble: the daughter of First Samurai wears blinkers first time, races without Lasix, and has a new rider in Mike Smith, who takes over from out-of-favour Rafael Bejarano.
